The mission of the Human Resources department is to attract, develop, motivate and retain a diverse and highly qualified workforce. The department is responsible for the recruitment of all full-time and part-time personnel, employee orientation, labor relations, contract administration, payroll, employee policies and all mandatory and fringe benefit programs. In addition to maintaining employee job descriptions, personnel and payroll records, the department administers and enrolls employees in the City's various benefit programs and pension plans.

Full Time Positions

Staff Engineer

The City of Marquette has a position available for a full-time Staff Engineer. This position provides engineering support to the City Engineer and other City departments. Minimum requirements include a B.S. in Civil Engineering, an Engineer in Training certificate and a minimum of three year’s field experience, preferably for a municipality or other public entity. Applicants must possess or be in the process of obtaining a Professional Engineer’s license in the state of Michigan. A very competitive salary and benefits package is available. Heavy Equipment Operator

The City of Marquette is accepting applications for a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for operating a wide range of light and heavy equipment. Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid class A CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements. Testing will be required. Customer Account Clerk/Cashier

The City of Marquette has a full-time position available for a Customer Account Clerk/Cashier. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by courses in accounting, or related field. Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred. Proficiency in spreadsheet/word processing software, typing of 45 wpm and data entry of 7,900 keystrokes per hour is required. The entry wage is $14.40/hr. with a full benefits package. Part Time Positions

Part-Time Administrative Assistant

The City of Marquette has an opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant in our Arts & Culture division, located in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library. Approximately 29 hours per week at $11.74 per hour. This position will provide administrative support for the Arts Center including payroll and invoicing, grant administration, and assistance with the planning of events and programs. Seasonal Employment

Facilities & Maintenance Laborers

The City of Marquette is accepting applications for seasonal employment for Facilities & Maintenance Laborers. This position requires considerable physical effort. Includes general maintenance of City parks and other City properties, i.e. turf maintenance and refuse collection, preparation of athletic fields and cleaning restrooms. Lifeguards

The City of Marquette has seasonal positions available for Lifeguards at all public beaches. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays from approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day. Red Cross Waterfront Certification and a current CPR card are required. Red Cross certified waterfront classes will be offered April 22 23, 29 and 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Marquette Senior High School pool. Parks and Recreation

The City of Marquette is accepting applications for seasonal employment for Park Patrol Officers, Pavilion Attendants, Ballfield Maintenance Laborers, Tourist Park and Marina Attendants, and a Tourist Park Manager. Testing will be required for some positions. Position starting and ending dates are variable. The pay range varies by position and experience. Tourist Park Manager

The City of Marquette is accepting applications for an experienced manager at the Tourist Park campground. Position will be responsible for the supervision of seasonal Tourist Park attendants and daily operations of the park. This seasonal position is available immediately and ends after the park closes for the season in October. Approximately 40 hours per week, may include weekends.
