The mission of the Human Resources department is to attract, develop, motivate and retain a diverse and highly qualified workforce. The department is responsible for the recruitment of all full-time and part-time personnel, employee orientation, labor relations, contract administration, payroll, employee policies and all mandatory and fringe benefit programs. In addition to maintaining employee job descriptions, personnel and payroll records, the department administers and enrolls employees in the City's various benefit programs and pension plans.

Seasonal Employment

The City of Marquette is accepting applications for seasonal employment for Pavilion Attendants, Ballfield Maintenance Laborers, Tourist Park and Marina Attendants, Tourist Park and Marina Managers. Testing will be required for some positions. Position starting and ending dates are variable. The pay range varies by position and experience. Marina Manager

The City of Marquette is accepting applications for a seasonal Marina Manager. Previous experience with marina operations required. Position will be responsible for the supervision of seasonal marina attendants, daily operations, and assigning slip rentals at the Presque Isle and Cinder Pond Marinas. Approximately 40 hours per week, may include weekends. Pay rate of $11.74/hr to $16.17/hr., based on experience. Lifeguards

The City of Marquette has seasonal positions available for Lifeguards at all public beaches. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays from approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day. Red Cross Waterfront Certification and a current CPR card are required. Red Cross certified waterfront classes will be offered April 22 23, 29 and 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Marquette Senior High School pool. To sign up for classes, contact Tina in Human Resources at 225-8584. Must attend all four classes to become certified.
