Public Works Commercial Services

Contractor Service
In general, the City does not provide solid waste collection services for commercial, institutional, and industrial properties. The owners and managers of these properties are referred to private refuse contractors listed in the yellow pages of the phone directory.

Limited Use Commecial
Small offices and other businesses whose waste stream resembles that of a single family residence and does not warrant container service may apply for residential collection service by contacting Waste Management Inc. at 228-2283. If approved for such service, a garbage fee will be added to their monthly City utility bill and they will be required to use prepaid City-approved bags for their refuse. The refuse must be placed curbside in accordance with the rules listed for residential service, on the appropriate evening for collection.

Transfer Station Access
Businesses and Residents may dispose of rubbish, tires, construction and demolition debris, scrap metal, and most commercial wastes at the transfer station operated by Waste Management Inc. at 910 W Baraga Avenue. For further information, and hous of operation call 228-2283.
